Although there has been a decrease in marriage on the whole, there has been a significant increase in the amount of weddings that take place abroad. Statistics for the United Kingdom indicate 1 in 6 couples are exchanging their vows in the tropics with the most popular being Cyprus in the Mediterranean. Over the last five years, “bikini weddings” have increased by 43% and sources say that this number is expected to grow.
In other words, the typical church wedding with a formal white gown is taking a back seat position to the unconventional but more sought after scene of tropical beaches and bikini weddings. Interestingly, couples expend approximately 1/3 of what it would cost for them to marry locally in a church with the ceremonial gown and reception party than they would for a beach wedding.
So, what bikini will you wear to your wedding? Although a long white gown with a train is very stunning it is not the most practical for use on the beach. A short dress could be worn but a bikini seems to suit the setting completely. Since a beach wedding is still viewed as unconventional, the attire should not be seen any differently. As a result, the bikini that one chooses is pretty much open to the theme a couple selects.
Since white is viewed as the traditional color for a wedding, a white bikini would keep with the existing tendency. Also a white bikini is very easy to dress up with accessories. Wear a tiara and lacy sarong, for example, to set a more conventional mood. Flowers add color and can compliment your theme by wearing them around your head or neck if so desired.
Tropical printed bikinis work perfectly for a beach wedding as they add a fun flare to the occasion. There are various colorful designs which can work in conjunction to the groom’s apparel creating a stylish match. Accessorize your look with a few flowers that are local to the area to complete your look.
If you are superstitious, then wearing a blue bikini would snuff these reservations. A smart blend of tradition and individuality will create an unforgettable presentation. Your wedding bikini can provide you with that “something new, something blue” format to ease your mind so that your wedding goes off without any hindrance.
Given that, the concept of a bikini wedding is relatively new, there have been no real trends set as far as color or style; therefore, one can surmise that pretty much any bikini you choose would be acceptable. Your wedding day is an important one. Breaking age old traditions with a bikini wedding will undoubtedly add to its uniqueness and provide you with years of memories.
