is it ok to wear a chiffon maxi dress to my church prom?

my school prom was thursday and someone stepped on my dress and tore it. but i have a semi formal prom with my church on a cruise and was wondering if it would be acceptable to wear a printed coral chiffon maxi dress with formal gladiator flats (my date is short), and gold jewelry.
